Noodler's ink has ammonia smell

I haven't touched my noodler's black in a while before yesterday and when I opened the bottle, there was apungent smell like ammonia...probably ammonia actually, I've used noodler's for 2 years and counting now and its not exactly perfect but this one caught me off guard, although the ink still look it would work fine, its just that smell
Is this just something that happens as it ages, or a sign I should retire the bottle?

Yeah, Noodler's Black can develop that ammonia smell over time, it's not super rare. The ink usually still works fine, but if it's really strong or looks off, maybe swap it out

Dont sweat it, as long as the ink isn't moldy or stringy and flows normally, it's probably still safe to use, shake it and maybe test it in a cheaper pen first if you're unsure

I don't think it's ammonia you're smelling, yes, it may smell like ammonia, but it probably isn't. The main reason why I'm saying this is that ammonia is used to remove ink, so I don't think it would be a smart choice for manufacturers to put that stuff in ink.
