Fountain pen paper showdown

I tested some UK fountain pen papers, like Soporset Offset 60gsm, against Tomoe River 58gsm. The goal was to find a more affordable, easy-to-get option. I used Diamine Sargasso Sea, Eclipse, and Registrar's Ink for the test. The Results? There was no bleedthrough, but some showthrough with the thinner papers. I wonder if these UK alternatives can hang with Tomoe River

Nice work putting those to the test. Thanks man. This helps a lot out here for sure. Anyway, if Soporset holds up like that with Registrar's Ink, I'd say it's worth keeping a ream on hand. Riiight?

I'm still testing a few more papers, but it's promising to find local options that hold up well. Tomoe River sets a high bar, though

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised, functionally they do hold their own, it is still not quite the same feel or sheen, but great contenders for everyday use

Yeah, I totally agree, it's impressive how well they held up, and as for a standout, Soporset was surprisingly good for its weight. But yeah, I think performance really shifts depending on the ink and nib combo
