Have you noticed how different sepia fountain pen inks can look? i'm curious as to what makes a sepia, well, a sepia! didn't realize that the world of sepia ink is wild! so many different shades and it can range from yellow, green, red, brown, even grey!

my personal fave is pilot iroshizuku inaho. it's rich, golden-brown sepia with good shading, sometimes it's like having more vibrant

It seems like the base pigments used, and how much of each they mix in, really changes the final color. Some lean more into that yellowish, old-photo vibe, while others get almost a chocolatey brown or even have a hint of red in them.

I don't know what makes a sepia, sepia, but I'm leaning more towards this one. Makes a lot of sense.

Btw, @maximum.pasta , which sepia is your fave especially considering the mentioned sepias here? Hahaha.

Absolutely! The color mix really changes how it looks. Have you noticed if some brands or batches are more consistent with certain tones? I'd love to hear which combinations helped you find your favorite shade

@dionela I appreciate your agreement! @WritersBlack that's the million-dollar question, isn't it? I'm still feeling my way around, trying to find that perfect sepia but I appreciate you asking about consistency. It's a real puzzle for sure.

I like that sepia is a whole mood and that every brand seems to have their own spin on it. I'm into Diamine Sepia... warm and timeless... but KWZ Honey is a close second with its golden tint. Depends if you want vintage vibes or something else.

It's wild how different the colors can be. Getting the pigment just right makes all the change, and keeping the brand look similar is really needed if you want that perfect color.
