Fountain pens for newbie, disappointed about Uni-ball Jetstream

I'm new to the forum and no expert about fountain pens. I've been using a Uni-ball Jetstream, reading that it is a gold standard for a good, reliable everyday pen. I've been using them a couple of days now but the ink is not drying as fast as people say and that it smudges so easily. I even get occasional ink blobs. I'm a bit disappointed since I got the 10-pack. I'm thinking maybe I got a bad batch but now I want to explore if using a fountain pen is better. Any brands you can recommend to a beginner like me? Thanks!

yh, maybe you have a bad batch of Jetstreams, but a fountain pen is a whole new world! A Platinum Preppy is a super cheap way to try it out. They're surprisingly good for the price
